About S.C. Biswas

Mr S.C. Biswas joined the Bar in the year 1974 and since then he has been practising at different Courts of North-East India including the Gauhati High Court and the Supreme Court of India. He is a MA LLB from Gauhati University and presently a Special Senior Counsel of Northeast Frontier Railway, Kendriya Vidyalay Sanghatan, Ramakrishna Mission and several other Tea Estates of Assam.

His core area of practice includes Criminal Laws. Besides this, he also has a command over Constitutional Law and Service Matters. He has also updated and revised three Books namely: - The Assam Services (Discipline and Appeal Rules) 1964, The Assam Notified Urban Areas (Other Than Guwahati), Building Rules, 2014 and the Delegation of Financial Powers Rules 1999.

He is an active welfare worker and is vigorously associated with providing Legal Aid to the convicts, who remains behind the four walls and also working relentlessly in providing Legal aid to the poor and the downtrodden. He is also a member of Supreme Court Bar association. He also has an immense contribution to the field of Journalism and is the founder of Desh Barta, a largest circulated Nepali Weekly of North-East. He has some landmark contribution in the field of PIL and that includes protection for the Street Dwellers being killed by Stoneman and protection of thousands of people who have been affected by the Erosion of Jia Bharali.
